  • Look Inside

The thalamus participates in various neurocognitive processes such as memory, language, and executive functions. It is now accepted that medial diencephalic lesions can produce severe amnesia in humans. However, the specific nuclei and neural pathways that must be damaged to impair memory have not yet been identified, and the neuropsychological features of diencephalic amnesia have not well been defined. In this paper, we discuss the progress and of controversy in the field of diencephalic amnesia.
