Abstract. Purpose:To report three cases of autoimmune optic neuritis. Cases and Findings:All were females aged 18,50 and 50 years respectively. One case had systemic lupus erythematosus followed by optic neuritis in the right eye,and 6 months later,in the left. She improved after pulsed treatment with systemic corticosteroid and cyclophosphamide. The other two cases showed recurrent optic neuritis followed by manifestations of Sjögren syndrome with involvement of central nervous system. Pulsed treatment with corticosteroid led to improvement with partially impaired visual field. Conclusion:Autoimmune disease may underlie optic neuritis. Method of tapering is important in pulsed corticosteroid therapy.
