We established a scale to measure addiction toward Pachinko-pachislot (Pachinko-pachislot Playing Disorder) and examined its reliability as well as validity. With respect to 27 items selected after the preliminary investigations, a survey research was conducted for 522 people who experienced Pachinko-pachislot within one year. For reliability, the examination of internal consistency (α=.95). For validity, the establishment of items by psychiatrists and researchers provided content validity, and the analysis of data showed that the theoretical model for 3 factors (motivation, behavior, and consequence) fits the data better and the scale had some significant correlations with other scales for pathological gambling such as SOGS (r=.57 −.79). Negative correlation with social desirability was revealed (r=−.33), that shows correspondence with the preceding studies on SOGS.
