I. INTRODUCTION
The remarkable progress of thoracic sur—gery and anesthesia has required a precise measuring of cardio-pulmonary function. The theory and the method of Riley et al, 27)28) in parallel with clinical applications of cardiac catheterization, has brought an epoch—making progress to physiology of the lung. Now, a variety of pulmonary function tests have been in clinical practice.
Granting that some of these tests are highly progressed, they are only helpfull to see a single phase of pulmonary function and are not sufficient for a comprehensive evaluation of pulmonary function.
