  • Look Inside

A 55-year-old woman was told to have abnormal finding at the mass screening for gastric cancer in spite of having no subjective symptoms. She was hospitalized for examination in February 1970. Roentgenographic and endoscopic study of the stomach revealed multiple irregular shallow ulcers and a granular mucosal pattern, extending from the body to the antrum. The border of the lesion was indistinct. Though histologic study of the biopsy specimens was negative for carcinoma, she was diagnosed as having multiple Ⅱc-type early cancers of the stomach.

She underwent subtotal gastrectomy in March 1970. Histologic study of the resected stomach revealed malignant lymphoma (2×1. 2 cm, diffuse lymphoma, poorly differentiated histiocytic type) involving the mucosa and submucosa on the anterior wall of the body. In addition, histology of the mucosa surrounding the tumor was that of RLH.

Therefore, this case may suggest the possibility of malignant change of RLH.
