  • Look Inside

Sixty cases of gastric polyp (or polyps), proved by biopsy, were followed up for 6 months to 7 years and 3 months.

Obvious change in its size and shape was noted in 12 cases, though no carcinomatous transformation was established in them. In one case a typical red sessile polyp grew up at a site, where there was only a tiny red spot 4 months before. In 6 cases polyps enlarged and in 4 they became smaller. The gross change was noted more frequent in red polyps and in patients, followed up for more than 3 years and whose age had been 50 years or older at the first examination.

Several typical cases are presented as well as another one, in which a pedunculated polyp, though not biopsied, disappeared during the 5-year-follow-up period.
