　チリーにおける胃癌の頻度は高いが，多くは進行癌で，治療成績が不良であった．近年胃の診断について日本との交流が行われて，X線，内視鏡のすぐれた診断技術をとり入れ早期胃癌の診断が可能になっている．われわれは日本の早期胃癌研究者の協力を得て，1970～71年の2年問にVan Buren Hospital（Valparaiso，Chile）において，4例の早期胃癌を経験したので報告する．

　Incidence of gastric carcinoma is high in Chile and majority of the cases are progressive cancer, giving poor therapeutic result. In recent years, however, diagnostics of the stomach has advanced by exchange of physicians between Chile and Japan, and diagnosis of early gastric carcinoma has become possible. With the cooperation of Japanese workers in gastric carcinoma, four cases of early carcinoma were detected at the Van Buren Hospital (Valparaiso, Chile) during the two years from 1970 to 1971, which are reported.
