  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Visualization of the hepatic ducts and the gallbladder has been achieved in two cases by employing retrograde pancreatography and cholangiography after cannulation into the duodenal papilla by the duodenofiberscope (Machicla) under general anesthesia.

In a 50-year-old man who had underwent cholecystectomy, gallstones were demonstrated by opacifying the common bile duct as well as the hepatic ducts. In the other case, a woman 54 years old, the diagnosis of cholecystolithiasis was arrived at by visualizing the gallbladder itself in addition to the common and hepatic ducts.

When direction of the canule inserted into the papilla is adjusted according to each of opening angles of the bile and pancreatic ducts by additional control under TV fluoroscopy, selective opacification of the common bile duct or pancreatic duct is within the range of possibility.
