  • Look Inside

A 59-year-old male was admitted to the hospital because of a postprandial distress in the abdomen. Laboratory findings showed no abnormalities except for positive occult blood in his stool. X-ray examinations revealed a deep niche at the gastric angle. Endoscopically, a protruding lesion with even surface was found on the posterior wall in the lower gastric corpus. No fistula, bleeding or bridging fold was observed. The operation was performed under preoperative diagnosis of a penetrated ulcer and a subrnucosal tumor of the stomach. At operation, a penetrated ulcer and a submucosal tumor with the size of 1.0×1.0×1.5cm was found in the lower gastric corpus. The tumor was localized within the muscular coat.

Histologically, it proved to be a leiomyosarcoma of the stomach.
