  • Look Inside

Two cases showing granular shadow in the stomach as visualizecl in x-ray picture are reported in this paper. Histopathologically the one was of malignant nature, while the other was benign. They have been correlated with each other both in x-ray and histological findings.

 Casc 1: a 50-year-old male.

At a x-ray examination of his stomach a granular shadow was visualized granulas of uneven and irregular shape. Each of these granulas was blurred, but seen as a whole the shadow was well-defined. In adjacent regions the areae gastricae were of uneven size, with unusual adhesion of the barium meal to the gastric wall. Roentgenologically the lesion was interpreted as Ⅱc and probable Ⅱb in its neighborhood. Histologically it was a shallow mucosal depression of cancerous nature on the lesser curvature, measuring 15 by 25mm, and cancer lesion was also found in the neighboring area, where macroscopically discoloration was observed. The whole picture was Ⅱc+ Ⅱb type early gastric cancer, belonging to adenocarcinoma mucocellulare with ‘m' degree of depth invasion.

 Case 2: a 37 years old male.

A small niche was found at the gastric angle of his stomach, with granular shadows around it. The size of granulas was comparatively of similar size, with each of them well defined. Roentgenologically a benign lesion was more likely than Ⅱc.

Histologically it proved to be Ul-Ⅲ type ulcer associated with a picture of atrophic-hyperplastic gastritis with erosions.
