  • Look Inside

A 53-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with complaints of epigastralgia and sense of fullness of abdomen since a few months before. From the dynamic observation of double contrast and compression study, a radiolucent lesion like a submucosal tumor was seen corresponding with the irregular barium fleck. It was due to mass formation in the submucosal layer.

Histologically, early gastric cancer, 10×15 mm in diameter, was recognized as a mass formation by cancer invasion and lymphoid hyperplasia in the submucosal layer, but we did not see any adhesion between its mass formation and muscle layer. Reactive lymphoid hyperplasia due to cancer invasion accounts for 6.6% of early gastric cancer and the features of x-ray diagnosis are as following: Mucosal inspection revealed appearance of mucosal depth of early gastric cancer, but by double contrast and compression study, we estimated the extent of mass formation like a submucosal tumor corresponding with Ⅱc region.
