We report a case of a giant arteriovenous malformation (AVM) of the face that had a long-term postoperative follow-up of 31 years. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no other reports of AVM cases with such a long follow-up. Our experience with this case demonstrates that complete removal of the nidus is necessary to cure AVM, and that long-term survival is possible if this can be achieved. However, since surgical treatment is invasive, it is desirable to develop a treatment method to completely eliminate the nidus using only vascular embolization and sclerotherapy.
