Pulmonary embolism (PE) is one of the fatal complications after orthopedic surgery as a consequence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). In addition, guidelines for the prevention of pulmonary embolism were introduced in 2004, but complete prevention is impossible. Of course, the patient's informed consent is need, but moreover awareness for an early diagnosis and treatment for PE are important. We report a case of PE which developed after arthoroscopic debridement in a patient with an unsuspected antiphospholipid syndrome.
